Mandalika, Indonesia: a fruitful Saturday for Simone Corsi and Marcos Ramirez.
Simone Corsi, after the first two free practice sessions spent looking for the best feeling on the Indonesian track, had to pass from Q1 due to a lap cancelled yesterday during Fp2. After tackling Q1 with determination he entered Q2 together with his team mate and led the session with a best time of 1'36'665. The Italian will start tomorrow from 9th position. Marcos Ramirez conducted the two free practice sessions with the aim of getting to know the track better and gaining confidence with the grip of the track's two types of tarmac. He gained direct access to Q2, but a crash on the penultimate lap of the session prevented him from giving his best. He will start tomorrow from the fifth row of the grid. The lights of the Pertamina Mandalika Grand Prix will go out tomorrow at 06.20 Italian time, preceded by the Warm Up that will see the Moto2 riders on track from 03.20 Italian time.
Grazie a tutti”.
"I am happy with our performance in qualifying. The third row is a good result to start from tomorrow. I already felt good on the bike yesterday and had a good feeling with the track. I was disappointed that they cancelled the lap that would have put me straight into Q2 but I knew we could do well. I'm happy with the way I'm working with the team, I think we can still make a small step. Tomorrow it will be important to get a good start and the goal will be to finish the Grand Prix in the top 10. Obviously I will give my best. Thanks to everybody”.
"I was really hoping to do better in Q2 because I felt good in the dry yesterday, but today I struggled a little bit with the rear grip. I was pushing to get into the Top 10 and I slipped. Now we will analyse the data and try to find the final solutions for tomorrow".
