INJURED BALDASSARI SCORES POINTS, MARINI FIGHTS FOR TOP15
The second race of the season has just finished for Forward Racing at Termas de Rio Hondo. After a downpour swept the circuit overnight, Lorenzo Baldassarri and Luca Marini went on to race on a difficult track that dried up gradually during the race.
Baldassarri, still suffering from dislocating both shoulders in Qatar, started the race very aggressively moving up to sixth position in the first laps. Continuing the race the Italian began to lose feeling on corner exit, closing in 13th position and in the points.
Marini, starting from the back, was engaged in an overtake battle with the group close to the Top15. “Maro” finished the race in 18th position at his debut on the Argentinian track collecting many useful inputs for the rest of the season.
Lorenzo Baldassarri
“Today’s race was a bit weird because on the track conditions, I felt competitive, I started strongly but then I took too many risks and I was not so fast on corner exit. I still learned a lot about how to run the race in these conditions; I wish to thank the team, the VR46 Riders Academy and the Clinica Mobile who have been very close to me after the injury. ”
Luca Marini
“It was a very difficult race because of poor track conditions. I learned so much because I found myself battling with very strong and aggressive riders. I am a bit disappointed because I felt I could finish in the points but we lost too much time overtaking each other; these are the competitions. Now we will analyze this race to get ready for Austin, another new track for me but very stimulating. I wish to thank Forward Racing and VR46 Riders Academy who supported me so much. ”
